Terminology

Here's a guide to the words and names used throughout the blog. Sorry if any of the information is out of date or outright wrong. There's no good source to figure this all out, so I'm trying to create that here, please bear with me. This is likely to be edited and expanded over time.

Goldie - Short for "Goldie Marketing Pty Ltd", the Australian company that was the developer and manufacturer of many Mario collectibles featured on this site, from around 2009-2010. By spring 2012, they will start developing and distributing more new collectibles under the new name "Goldie International".

Popco - Short for "PopCo Entertainment Ltd", a division of "Corgi International Limited". Popco was the company that was somehow involved with the Mario collectibles featured on this site from around 2007-2008, presumably in the development and manufacturing. It stopped when Goldie took it over.

Global Holdings - The company that distributed the Goldie collectibles in North America until sometime in 2010. Now, they distribute collectibles developed by Banpresto to North America.

Banpresto - Short for "Banpresto Co., Ltd", a company owned by "Namco Bandai Games, Inc." Banpresto's logo appears on the back of several Goldie Mario collectibles packages. It signed Goldie as its exclusive global distribution partner. Now, Global Holdings distributes some of the products Banpresto developed to North America.

Together + - A company whose logo appears on the back of several Goldie Mario collectibles packages, and is Goldie's European distributer.

Series - Sets or waves. Helps keep products organized.

Variations - Change(s) or difference(s) between items that are otherwise the same.

Rerelease - A release that wasn't the first.

Logo - A design used as a recognizable symbol for a company.

Prototype - The first or preliminary model of a product.

Limited edition - Only a certain number was made.

Official Nintendo Seal - Declares a product had permission from Nintendo to exist. It's currently a round gold symbol that says "Official Nintendo Seal" on it.

Bubble - The piece of thin, clear plastic that contains the figure, keychain, etc, inside itself and is attached to the cardboard packaging.

Card - The cardboard packaging which has a bubble attached to itself.
